Kingdom of Sludge // Desert Storm (UK) + Örmagna (IS) + Wall (UK) + Sleeping Giant (IS)
Desert Storm (UK) + Örmagna (IS) + Wall (UK) + Sleeping Giant (IS)
We are honored to welcome sludge heralds Desert Storm, invading Iceland from the once European-bounded British isles. Alongside them, we will have not one, not two, but THREE excellent supports. The most doomed black metal band of Iceland, Örmagna, will pain us with a very special set, while Wall and Sleeping Giant will hit us like that meteorite shower did with the poor dinosaurs.
DESERT STORM (UK) - https://desertstorm.bandcamp.com/album/death-rattle
Crushing progressive stoner / sludge metallers Desert Storm from Oxford, UK, bring their riffs to Iceland for a night of sinful soundscapes.
The band are currently touring their latest album 'Death Rattle' out now on APF Records.
Over the bands 17 year existence they have toured and shared stages with the likes of Orange Goblin, Karma To Burn, Corrosion of Conformity, Crowbar, Clutch, Red Fang & Opeth and more & festival appearances at Bloodstock Open Air (main stage), Desertfest London & Berlin, Wasted open air! Langeln open air, Monolithic festival (Spain), Hard rock hell Ibiza (Spain) and more.
ÖRMAGNA (IS) - https://ormagna.bandcamp.com/album/rmagna
Hailing from the modern black metal hotbed of Iceland, ÖRMAGNA are an otherwise new entity with no other public recordings, save a self-released track on Bandcamp forecasting the shape of their Örmagna debut. What can be revealed is that Naðra vocalist Ö here also handles vocals, but let comparisons end there: ÖRMAGNA are undoubtedly a poignant new development in the increasingly rich landscape of Icelandic black metal.
Right after the chopped & screwed intro to the album, Örmagna explodes with a heart-bursting amount of passion and emotion. Its spiritual basis is black metal, within and without, but as the album progresses - or, for that matter, each of its six central songs - ÖRMAGNA weave windingly epic screeds of melody and fury that cycle through a surprisingly vast array of textures and tropes. It pushes and pulls with patience and insistence alike, guiding the listener on a fever-dreaming journey through mysteries unknown and unknowable, but always with gritty physicality that's difficult to resist. As such, Örmagna is as modern as it is ancient...or, more accurately, its magickal storytelling is simply timeless.
Rounded out by mastering courtesy of Misþyrming's D.G., ÖRMAGNA's self-titled debut album is a proud 'n' powerful new chapter in Icelandic black metal.
WALL (UK) - https://wallbandrocks.bandcamp.com/album/brick-by-brick
WALL is instrumental 2-piece heavy fucking riff machine, built brick by brick & riff by riff.
Like many recent projects WALL was born during lockdown with the two brothers living together in a small flat. With both of them furloughed, this left the duo with little else to do but write music to distract themselves from the boredom of being stuck at home. Ryan wrote riffs on an unplugged Gibson SG, whilst Elliot tapped out the drum rhythms on his lap. The first time the twins heard how the songs would sound properly was when they were in the studio tracking their initial first two EPs, as they couldn't arrange a proper rehearsal due to restrictions.
While originally starting out as a side project, WALL began to evolve into a more serious proposition following shows at Bloodstock Open Air, Desertfest London, Masters of the Riff alongside shows with Discharge, Will Haven and European dates in Germany, Czech Rep & Slovakia.
SLEEPING GIANT (IS)
Sleeping Giant was formed by three high school friends in 2006 who shared a mutual interest in Stoner and Doom metal. Living up to its name, the Giant loudly awoke from a decade of slumber for Reykjadoom 2024 and the current lineup of six burnouts fuses doom and stoner with thrash, death and sludge influences with heavy emphasis on riffs and grooves. Sleeping Giant is set to release their first EP this winter.
